The Receptionist worked the desk at the Weatherfield Private Employment Agency near Bettabuy in 1990. When Ken Barlow came in without an appointment, the receptionist gave him a form to fill in while he waited to see the recruitment officer, Christine Woods. Out of pride, Ken had been loath to look for work through the job centre since losing his job at the Gazette, and he nearly walked out of the agency when the receptionist told him that Christine was with a client and he'd have to wait. The receptionist assured him she wouldn't be long and kept him there until Christine could see him.
