Prunella Gee in Coronation Street (1999)

Prunella Gee was born on 17th February, 1950 in London. She is an English actress who played Doreen Heavey in Coronation Street.

In her capacity as a popular British actress and sex symbol in the 1970s and 1980s, she also had guest appearances in episodes of The Sweeney, The Professionals, Hammer House of Horror and Return of the Saint. Her TV career started in the early 1970s with the Granada Television series Shabby Tiger. In films, Prunella has appeared with Sidney Poiter, Michael Caine and Patrick Allen in The Wilby Conspiracy, with Sean Connery in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again and with Tommy Lee Jones, Sting and Sean Bean in Stormy Monday.

In 1981 she starred as the glamorous Miss Griffin in Nigel Kneale's short lived LWT sci-fi comedy series Kinvig and appeared opposite Coronation Street legend Patricia Phoenix in the seaside sitcom Constant Hot Water in 1986.

Following a career low in the 1990s, Gee returned to the big screen in 1998 in the Los Angeles sex comedy Merchants of Venus, in which she starred with Michael York, Beverley D'Angelo and Brian Cox. The following year she was cast as the flirty Doreen Heavey in Coronation Street, a character she played at regular intervals from 1999-2004

Gee was married to the actor and playwright Ken Campbell. They had a daughter together called Daisy, divorced, but always remained on good terms until his death in 2008. Gee retired from acting in 2004 and now works as a counsellor and therapist in Camden, London.
