The unnamed Postman was one of the regular delivery men on Coronation Street. In February 1961 he left a parcel for an absent Harry Hewitt with Florrie Lindley at the Corner Shop. As it was Harry's birthday, the postman agreed to leave the item with her though he envied the fact that Harry would be riding around in buses all day rather than being on his feet.
Just over two years later, in April 1963, he attempted to deliver a parcel at 11 Coronation Street for Elsie Tanner but she refused to open the door to him as she has been threatened with eviction for withholding rent and she suspected he was a bailiff. When she realised the truth of the matter, she stammered out her embarrassed apologies to him as she signed for the parcel but her manner had already caused offence and he walked off in a huff after completing his task.
