Plank Street Market was a market place based around Plank Street which operated in the early 1900s.
Known stall-holders include; Ivy Makepiece, who was left widowed when her husband Alfred Makepiece passed away in 1908 and she was forced to run the stall to provide for her seven children, and Herbert Popplewell, who spent his days selling chickens for an old Jewish trader until he was able to sign up for the war.
