The photographer for the Weatherfield Gazette visited Roy's Rolls in March 2017 to cover a story about Sally Metcalfe's protest against sexism. The photographer recognised Sally's daughter Rosie from school and told his colleague Rachel that her troublesome past could make a good article.

Rachel and the photographer decided to change their original article and interviewed Rosie in Nick's Bistro. The two tricked her by buying her a cocktail and getting her to come out with quotes that would harm her mother's protest. The article was published later that day and Rosie protested her innocence about the interview to her sister Sophie, claiming that the photographer and Rachel had twisted her words.

Rosie and Sophie visited the Gazette offices a month later in order to find out who had ordered a fake obituary for their mother. While there, they saw the photographer and demanded him to reveal the information about who had ordered the obituary. When the girls threatened to smash open a chocolate egg that the photographer had bought for his girlfriend, he told them the details of the person who had ordered the obituary.
