Peter Schmeichel (Born 18th November 1963) is a Danish former professional goalkeeper best known for his years with Manchester United from 1991 - 1999. Other teams he was notable for performing with included Aston Villa and Manchester City.

His stop in Weatherfield was an uncredited cameo moment in The Rovers Return in Episode 4631 (18th June 1999).

His name would become immortalised in Coronation Street history in 2004 when a dog was left on the doorstep of Tyrone Dobbs, The name that was bestowed upon him would be Schmeichel.
