Peter John Kay (born 2nd July 1973 in Farnworth, Bolton) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in November 1997 as a shopfitter who was drafted in by Fred Elliott to refurbish the corner shop; and he returned to the programme in January 2004 as Newton & Ridley drayman Eric Gartside, who went out on a date with Shelley Unwin.

He is best known for his stand-up shows and sitcoms such as Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights and Peter Kay's Car Share, as well as appearing in the video for Tony Christie's (Is This the Way to) Amarillo, re-released for Comic Relief in 2005.
