Peter Kay (born 2nd July 1973 in Bolton) has appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly as a Shopfitter who was drafted in by Fred Elliott to refurbish the Corner Shop in November 1997; and he returned to the programme as Newton & Ridley drayman Eric Gartside, who went out on a date with Shelley Unwin in January 2004.

He is best known for his stand-up shows, his sitcoms such as Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights (2001-2002) and Peter Kay's Car Share (2015-2018), and for appearing in the video for Tony Christie's "(Is This The Way To) Amarillo", re-released for Comic Relief in 2005.
