Peter Gowen (born in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland in 1958) appeared in Coronation Street irregularly between July 1991 and May 1992 as Simon Beatty who enticed Steph Barnes away from her marriage to Des.
He began his career at the Players Theatre at Trinity College in Dublin in 1978 and has also appeared in The Irish R.M., Who Bombed Birmingham?, The Paradise Club, Minder, Trial & Retribution, On Home Ground, The Bill, The Tudors, Single-Handed, Holby City, Love/Hate and Charlie.
Film roles include Eat the Peach, The Butcher Boy, Dancing at Lughnasa, A Love Divided, Breakfast on Pluto, Ondine, Dollhouse and Noble.
On stage, he has appeared in Making History, At the Black Pigs Dyke, Juno and the Paycock, The Plough and the Stars, The Plough and the Stars, Observe the Sons of Ulster …, A Doll’s House, Mutabilitie, The Forest, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Grapes of Wrath, Royal Supreme, Yerma, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Crucible, Trad, The Hairy Ape, The Playboy of the Western World, The Tramp, Arragh-na-Pogue, Happy Days and The Chronicles of Oggle.
On radio, he was heard in Wild Ride to Dublin, a production in the Afternoon Play slot.
