Peter Gowen (born 1958 in Co. Cork, Ireland) appeared on Coronation Street intermittently between July 1991 and May 1992 as Simon Beatty, who enticed Steph Barnes away from her marriage to Des.
He began his career at the Players Theatre at Trinity College in Dublin in 1978.
His other television credits include roles in The Irish R.M., The Paradise Club, Minder, The Jump, Trial & Retribution, The Bill, On Home Ground, The Tudors, Single-Handed, Cast Offs, Pen Talar, Holby City, Love/Hate and Charlie.
Film roles include Eat the Peach, The Butcher Boy, Dancing at Lughnasa, A Love Divided, Breakfast on Pluto, Ondine, Dollhouse and Noble.
On stage, he appeared in productions of Making History, Juno and the Paycock, At the Black Pigs Dyke, The Plough and the Stars, Observe the Sons of Ulster..., A Doll's House, Mutabilitie, The Forest and The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
While for radio, he was heard in Wild Ride to Dublin, a production in the Afternoon Play strand.
