Peter Seville Bayliss (born 27th June 1922 in Kingston upon Thames, died 29th July 2002 in Westminster, London) appeared on Coronation Street in January 1989 as short-term Rovers' barman, Charlie Bracewell.
He trained at the Italia Conti Stage School.
His other television credits included roles in ITV Television Playhouse, No Hiding Place, Dixon of Dock Green, Do Not Adjust Your Set, The Avengers, The Wednesday Play, Doctor in the House, Please Sir!, Catweazle, The Fenn Street Gang, The Sweeney, Happy Ever After, Crown Court, Play for Today, Chance in a Million, Minder, Midsomer Murders and The Bill.
Film roles included Caesar and Cleopatra , The Red Shoes, From Russia with Love, Darling, A Matter of Innocence, House of Cards, Lock Up Your Daughters!, The Magic Christian, School for Vandals and Emily's Ghost .
On stage, he worked for John Gielgud's company and also appeared in productions of Happy Days, The Matchmaker, Trelawny of the Wells, A Life in the Sun, Hobson's Choice, Ross, The Big Tickle, How's the World Treating You?, Design for Living, The Chalk Garden, The Taming of the Shrew, Something's Afoot, The Boy Friend, My Fair Lady, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, One Way Pendulum, The Tempest, King Lear and Macbeth.
While for radio, he was heard in Anna Karenina, Nothing Ever Happes to Some Girls, Fawcett! Fawcett!, Just Before Midnight, With Great Pleasure, A Trick to Catch the Old One, The Magnetic Lady, The Devil Is an Ass and The Ruling Class.
