Percy Grimshaw and his family were the first tenants of 1 Coronation Street. He worked at the Weatherfield Main pit, as had his father and his father before him. He in turn was followed by his son Daniel.
Percy took a great interest in his son's love life and paid Moll Hardwick to help Daniel find his way with women. However, when Daniel fell for Annie Rogers, Percy didn't approve and tried to split them up by having Annie catch Daniel in Moll's arms, but Annie trusted Daniel and they stayed together.
Percy died from tuberculosis in 1906, leaving behind his son and wife Aggie. He had lived at No.1 since 1902.
