Paula Longmore was the owner of the dog found by Steve McDonald in the back of one of his Street Cars cabs and which he adopted, giving her the name of Rover.
Steve took to the dog and was bereft when he was forced to hand her back. His depression turned to delight when the dog made its own way back to the pub though Paula was in quick pursuit to collect her "Boo-Boo". She explained to Liz McDonald that she'd had two dogs from the same litter but the other one, Yogi had died (Liz wondering if the cause had been shame). Steve tried to stall handing his new friend over but had no choice but to relinquish her a second time. The drippy woman complimented Steve on having a dog-friendly pub and took one of "Boo-Boo"'s paws to wave goodbye to "Uncle Steve".
A saddened Steve was delighted when on two occasions the dog returned to him, although he was forced by Liz to return her back to the owners. After a third time, they allowed Steve to keep Rover as they were going to live with their pregnant daughter and didn't want a dog around the baby.
