Paul Foreman was the cellmate of David Platt at Highfield Prison in May 2018.
Despite David's protests about not wanting a cellmate and telling the prison officer that he couldn't share with anyone, Paul moved into David's cell. David warned Paul to stay away from him and told him he wanted nothing to do with him.
Although David refused to engage with his cellmate, Paul remained friendly and attempted to make small talk with David. When David fell asleep later in the day, Paul gently tried to wake him up. When David woke up, he lashed out at Paul and shoved him against the wall. Paul warned David that he wouldn't last five minutes in prison.
David later apologised to Paul and admitted to him that he could do with a mate if he was sentenced. Paul told him that there were no 'mates' in prison and that he would have to learn to fend for himself.
