Patricroft is an area of Eccles in the Borough of Salford. The town was most famous for its foundry, opened in 1836, which later began the manufacture of steam locomotives. The factory supplied munitions in both the First and Second World War before it closed in 1989.
In Coronation Street, Patricroft was the home of stripper Sugar La Marr who in May 1981 was booked for Fred Gee's stag night celebrations in the Rovers, and was the setting for The Pink Flamingo nightclub where Vera Duckworth, Ivy Tilsley and Shirley Armitage enjoyed a night of cabaret and bingo in July 1986. Having just passed her test, Vera drove to and from Patricroft.
Vera and Ivy enjoyed another drunken night out at the nightclub in September 1987 to celebrate Vera's fiftieth birthday when husband Jack refused to mark the occasion. Ivy was both driven to and from the venue by taxi driver and future husband Don Brennan.
