Pamela Nompumelelo Nomvete played Mandy Kamara on Coronation Street between September 2012 and August 2013. She was born in Ethiopia in 1964 and moved to South Africa in 1994.

She trained as an actress at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and worked extensively on stage in South Africa and in the UK in productions of Rising in the Sun, The David Hare Trilogy, The Comedy of Errors and Welcome to Thebes among others. On film she has played in Zulu Love Letter and A Reasonable Man while television parts include EastEnders, Lewis and Sometimes in April. Her greatest claim to fame was in the six-year role of Ntsiki Lukhele in the Southa African soap Generations but a recently autobiography by the actress titled Dancing to the Beat of the Drum: In Search of My Spiritual Home has revealed many of the personal difficulties she faced during that period of her life.
