PC Robinson came into contact with residents of Coronation Street twice in 2002.

In June, Roy Cropper hired a replica musket from English Civil War fanatic Laurence Burford for a re-enactment to take place the next day on the Red Rec to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Stopping off in a supermarket on the way home, Roy, totally oblivious to his surroundings, practised holding the gun and alarmed the supermarket staff into thinking they were the victims of a hold-up. Roy was arrested by PC Robinson and held overnight in the station. After making enquiries and impounding the musket, Roy was set free.

In December, Blanche Hunt was the victim of a mugging outside The Kabin. Rita Sullivan and new neighbour Tommy Nelson came to her rescue and PC Robinson interviewed the witnesses. Tommy claimed to have seen little, surprising the residents who felt sure that he knew more than he was saying. What they didn’t know was that Tommy’s real surname was Harris and he and his family had come to Weatherfield from Sheffield on a witness protection scheme and the last thing he wanted to do was get involved with the authorities.
