The Nurse at Weatherfield General was on duty in November 2017 when Robert Preston had been admitted for overnight observation having been hit by the Viaduct Bistro van being driven by a distracted Kate Connor down Coronation Street. Robert had dived into the path of the van in order to ensure Joseph Brown and Jake Windass got to safety after the young boys strayed from the pavement and although he had no broken bones, Robert was severely concussed and also received a nasty laceration near the back of his right shoulder which required stitches.

Robert was anxiously waiting to be discharged when the nurse came to change the dressing on his wound - interrupting an argument he was having with his partner Michelle Connor with regards to the testicular lump he'd discovered several weeks prior which he had not yet sought medical attention for. Realising that Robert was in denial, Michelle managed to attract the nurse's attention just outside of the ward and asked whether he could be checked out while still in hospital as it was also causing him some level of pain. Although the nurse explained he'd need to be seen by a urologist and the usual method of referral was through a GP, she promised to see what she could do. A short time later, she returned to Robert's bedside with Mr Wilson, who conducted an interim examination before referring him for a scan that afternoon.

Some thirteen months later in December 2018, her next patient was Liz McDonald, who had sustained serious head injuries after being knocked down during a hit-and-run in Victoria Street. The car had been driven by the oblivious and heavily intoxicated Jenny Connor and the nurse was present in Liz's room as she slowly started coming round following the emergency surgery she'd undergone to relieve the swelling on her brain, with a concerned Eileen Grimshaw and Moira Pollock watching on as their mutual friend began to show positive signs of becoming responsive.

The nurse was once again monitoring Liz when Jenny herself turned up to visit later in the day. She allowed Jenny to stay - despite Liz being asleep and commented that her patient had a lot of good mates, as she'd seen the previous pair taking turns in staying at Liz's bedside all night - although they were both exhausted come morning - and told Jenny not to worry as Liz appeared to be healing well.
