Actor Nicolas Chagrin (26th November 1945 - 26th August 2017) played two roles on Coronation Street: in May 1998 he played a Surgeon who attended to Jim McDonald who fell off scaffolding while in an altercation with his son Steve on a building site. In November 2000 he returned to the programme in an episode shot totally on location in France when he played Fabrice Sancier, a Parisian jeweller who almost sold Fred Elliott and Audrey Roberts an engagement ring.

Mr Chagrin has an extensive acting C.V., first appearing on television in the late 1950s and acting in many series such as Z Cars and No Hiding Place. He quite often, as in Coronation Street, plays French roles. He is the son of the late composer Francis Chagrin.
