Nancy Tinker is the daughter of Agnes Tinker, mother of Beth and Arlene Tinker and grandmother of Sinead and Craig Tinker.
In January 2015, Nancy turned up at 5 Coronation Street alongside Agnes and Arlene for Beth and Kirk Sutherland's wedding. However, the trio mistook Jason Grimshaw - who had been fixing a faulty radiator in the living room - as the groom-to-be and expressed stark disappointment when they were finally introduced to the real Kirk.
When Kirk realised that he, Chesney Brown, Tyrone Dobbs and Craig Tinker all planned to attend the 80s themed wedding as The Blues Brothers, Kirk decided to dress up as Adam Ant instead and after returning to No.5 to collect his outfit he overheard Agnes, Nancy and Arlene putting him down for his meagre job as a packer at Underworld and poked fun at the way he spoke. Following the ceremony at Weatherfield Register Office, the couple held their reception at the Rovers where landlady Liz McDonald reprimanded Nancy for helping herself to two bottles of wine from behind the bar which she proceeded to get drunk on. The family left soon afterwards.
Nancy was also present for granddaughter Sinead's wedding to Chesney in January 2018, although while the vows were in progress Chesney had a change of heart and decided he couldn't go through with marrying Sinead after all due to her affair with Daniel Osbourne. Sinead later reconciled with Daniel and the pair had a civil service in October, however it was a last minute arrangement so Nancy and the rest of the family were uninvited.
In April 2019, Nancy and Arlene attended Sinead's son Bertie's christening and feuded with the Barlow family. They returned later in the year for Sinead and Daniel's wedding before returning a month later in October 2019 after learning that Sinead's cancer had returned and was now terminal. They visited on what was to be Sinead's final day. Nancy berated her daughter Arlene as she broke down and apologised for being a rubbish mum, stating that raking over past failings wouldn't do anyone any good. Emotional but determined to be strong for the family, Nancy brushed her granddaughter's hair like she had done when she was a little girl and led the family in reminiscing over good memories in Sinead's childhood. Upon learning of Sinead's passing later that day, Nancy comforted Arlene and they returned a few weeks later for Sinead's funeral before heading home.
