Mrs Gillen was the owner of the bed and breakfast where Pat Phelan (under the alias of "Alan Frost") stayed in April 2018 as he recuperated from his fall.
Mrs Gillen gave Mr Frost her sewing kit although she offered to sew his shirt for him as she was a dab hand with a needle and thread. Phelan declined her offer but thanked her for her kindness.
She also offered to call a doctor to attend to Phelan's facial wounds but he again declined, telling her that the hospital said all he needed was rest. Mrs Gillen said she would allow him all the rest he needed and wished him a good night's sleep. After she left his room, Phelan used her sewing kit to stitch a large scar on his leg.
