Mrs Allen was based at Weatherfield General and was Vera Duckworth's renal consultant when she donated a kidney to her grandson, Paul Clayton in December 2000. Mrs Allen was able to reassure Jack, who had fears over Vera's suitability as a donor, due to her age and general health. The final operation was a success for Paul, although Vera did suffer initial complications causing concern to all involved.
