Mrs. Pye was a customer of the Corner Shop in June 1982 and came in soon after childminder Jill Mason had hysterically told Alf Roberts that she had lost her charge - eighteen-month old Nicky Tilsley. While Alf looked upstairs to see if the child had gone there while he had been serving Jill, Mrs. Pye came in and asked if the young girl was being seen to. She ran out of the shop in tears to search, leaving a puzzled Mrs. Pye to explain to Alf where the lass had gone.
