Mr Dyer was one of Rosie Webster's teachers at Weatherfield High and in attendance at her parents' evening in May 2004. Sally Webster had gone through the worst excesses of her "stage mother" period, wanting her eldest to be a major star, but now realised that her "child prodigy" didn't want to follow such ambitions. She therefore turned her mind to Rosie excelling at the academic life and therefore she and Kevin were none too pleased to be told by Mr Dyer that Rosie would be a real star if she concentrated more on her lessons and less on her lip gloss!
