Mr Crossley was a potential customer of Gary Windass Construction who came into the yard to speak to Gary about a job which would keep the cash-strapped builder in work for the next three months.
Wanting to impress him, Gary gave Seb Franklin a few hours work to tidy up the yard before he arrived but Seb was due at Weatherfield Magistrates Court that day for a hearing to discuss his special application for him to have custody of his younger twin siblings, Charlie and Lexi. Their mother, Abi, opposed the application on the basis that the children were better off with their foster parents who had also applied to formally adopt them. She visited Seb in the yard to plead with him to drop the matter and Eileen Grimshaw also turned up to tell the lad that she would not be standing as his formal supporter. Seb lost his temper with the pair and was shouting at his mother that she was a junkie when Gary and Crossley walked in. Abi and Eileen swiftly left and the two men went to the office to discuss a potential contract but Crossley had not been impressed with what he had seen and, making a comment that he only hired professionals, didn't give Gary the work. Seb was duly sacked.
