Michael Gover (born 31st August 1913 in Copenhagen, Denmark; died 2nd May 1987 in Felpham, West Sussex) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: as Detective Sergeant Bowen between October and November 1963, with a return to the programme as Mark Brittain Warehouse Personnel Manager Edward Pollard in May 1971 and between July and November 1974.
His other credits include The Avengers, Z Cars (in the recurring role of Chief Supt. Hawthorne), Taxi!, No Hiding Place, The Man in Room 17, Dixon of Dock Green, The Newcomers, Softly Softly, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), Doomwatch , War & Peace, Crown Court, Survivors, The Onedin Line and The Ravelled Thread.
Film roles include Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, A Clockwork Orange and the 1978 blockbuster Superman.
On stage, he appeared in productions of High Temperature, Devonshire Cream, Inquest, Vanity Fair, Cry Liberty, Nun's Veiling and A Lodging for a Bride.
