He gained a B.A. in Drama and English at Exeter University and has also appeared in Secret Army, Play for Today, The Nation's Health, The Bill, Van der Valk, Spender, Minder, Goodnight Sweetheart, Casualty, Heartbeat, Down to Earth, Vital Signs, Doctors, Doc Martin and Holby City but he is best remembered for his regular role as Geoffrey "Poison" Pearce for ten years in London's Burning.
Film roles include parts in Legend 17 and Rogue Trader.
On stage he has appeared in Absent Friends, Abigail’s Party, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Cider with Rosie, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Art, Small Family Business, The Three Sisters, A Tale of Two Cities and worked at Shakespeare's Globe, appearing in The Merry Wives of Windsor.
On radio he was heard in the plays A Bump in the Road and Blood Brothers.
