Michael Bailey is the entrepreneurial son of Ed and Aggie, and the supportive brother of James and Dee-Dee.

In 2019, Michael along with his parents and brother moved to Coronation Street. A recent relationship with Grace Vickers had ended when Grace fell pregnant and Michael, afraid of commitment, had backed away. Michael spent much of the next year trying to reconcile with Grace, though his ex - who had suffered a miscarriage - passed off Tianna Powell as their daughter to punish him.

Michael and Grace reconciled with the birth of their real daughter Glory in 2021. The relationship didn't last as Michael came to realise that he only wanted Glory, not Grace. Having failed to bond with their daughter, Grace left Glory with Michael and departed from Weatherfield.

Initially working as a builder alongside his father, Michael became a telesales agent at Underworld in 2020. In 2023, he created the Nippersnapper range of novelty pyjamas with Sarah Barlow, but the idea ended up being appropriated and sold by Underworld. Michael was fired from the factory after giving manager Stephen Reid his access code to the company account, allowing him to clean them out, but once the dust settled he was re-hired. He continues to live at No.3 with Ed, Aggie and Glory.

Michael was brought up away from the area of Coronation Street, attending Jackson Road primary school in his childhood.

Throughout 2018 Michael's relationship with girlfriend Grace Vickers began to suffer, as she found issue with his unreliability, and the pair split when Michael went AWOL after Grace revealed that she was pregnant. Tianna was born in January 2019, but he had no part of her upbringing.

In September 2020, Grace told Michael she was planning to move to Spain with someone else and was taking baby Tianna with her. Desperate to see her before she left, Michael obtained Grace's address from information given after a drop-off by Street Cars and after being left alone with Tianna for a few minutes, he saw an opportunity to snatch the child. Grace turned up at No.3 looking for Michael, and while scouring the neighbourhood, Ed found his son with Tianna at Victoria Gardens. Ed told Michael to take her back to her mum, but Michael explained that his plan was to make Grace miss her flight. On the way home however, Michael was arrested for child abduction outside Audrey's salon and taken to the police station. He was then informed in a shock twist that Tianna was not in fact his daughter, Grace had been using him all this time and the man who he'd seen outside the police station was not Grace's new boyfriend, but Jayden Powell, Tianna's true biological father. Devastated and confused, he went home with his father.
