Michael Angelis (born 29th April 1944 in Paddington, died 30th May 2020 in Thatcham, Berkshire) appeared on Coronation Street between October and November 1972 as local villain Franny Slater.
He trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and his television credits included roles in Z Cars, The Liver Birds, Rock Follies, Crown Court, Robin's Nest, World's End, Boys from the Blackstuff, Reilly: Ace of Spies, I Woke Up One Morning, G.B.H., Wail of the Banshee, September Song, Casualty, Common As Muck, Melissa, The Jump, Playing the Field and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.
Michael also narrated the animated children's series Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends from 1991 to 2012, having taken over from Ringo Starr and succeeded by Mark Moraghan.
On stage, he appeared in productions of A Streetcar Named Desire, One for the Road and Valued Friends.
He was married to Coronation Street actress Helen Worth (Gail Rodwell) between 1991 and 2001, and his older brother, Paul Angelis, also appeared on the programme.
