Mia Penrose was the on-off girlfriend of rapist Aaron Sandford.
Mia and Aaron had previously dated prior to Aaron starting a relationship with Summer Spellman in 2022. In March 2023 Aaron got back in touch with Mia and the pair stayed up late into the night talking which was overheard by his flatmate Amy Barlow. Aaron made out that he had been speaking to his father but Amy eventually got him to admit the truth and she demanded that he tell Summer. Aaron failed to tell Summer until she discovered texts from Mia on his phone thanking him for the previous night. Aaron insisted that Mia had simply reached out to him in a state but nothing had happened beyond the pair speaking. However, Amy challenged his story by asserting that they were laughing and joking and that Mia didn't seem to be in distress. Summer was unhappy to learn that Aaron had discussed their personal problems with Mia leading to Aaron suggesting that she was jealous. Aaron and Summer had a falling out during which he got drunk and came onto Amy. Amy was initially receptive to the sexual advances but soon fell unconscious and despite being unable to further consent Aaron went ahead and raped her.
When Amy finally decided to come forward and accuse Aaron of rape Summer believed her and cut ties with him. Aaron returned to Mia and the pair reconciled. Amy was uncomfortable to see Aaron with another potential victim and attempted to warn Mia through social media. However, Mia sided with her boyfriend and blocked Amy's contact.
