Melody was the photography class tutor for Ken Barlow and Beth Sutherland's evening classes that were held in Roy's Rolls, Beth did not understand most of what was going on, and as she queried Ken made rude comments towards her within Melodys presence. She later taught the class about the "rule of thirds". Ken later showed her some of his pictures, as she told Ken and Beth about a photography competition that the Weatherfield Gazette were running.
