May Warden (born 9th May 1891 in Leeds, died 5th October 1978 in London) appeared on Coronation Street in June 1972 as pensioner Mrs Arnthorpe.
She also appeared in Christ Recrucified, Ours Is a Nice House, Ace of Wands, The Fenn Street Gang, a regular role in the television sitcom version of Billy Liar and Angels.
Film appearances include Made and It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet.
She is best known though for an 18-minute comedy sketch she recorded in 1963 with Freddie Frinton entitled Dinner for One. It has become a staple of New Year's Eve television in Germany since the 1960s and has also becoming required traditional viewing on that date each year in many other lands such as all the Nordic countries and Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and South Africa, making it the most repeated television programme ever.
