Maureen Barnett was taken on at the Rovers by Betty Turpin at the same time that temporary manager Frank Harvey had taken on Gloria Todd, but Gloria had never worked behind a bar before. Frank asked Gloria out for a meal, and the pair left Maureen on her own.
