Matthew Marsden (born 3rd March 1973) appeared in Coronation Street from March 1997 to March 1998 as garage mechanic Chris Collins.
He joined the National Youth Theatre after leaving school and worked for some two years as a model, a profession he admits he hated. During this time it is stated that the singer Madonna asked him on a date, an offer which he refused. He then started to look for work as an actor, gaining a three-month stint in Emmerdale after which he appeared in the mini-series Island and the French film Les Soeurs Soleil. Coronation Street then followed and he left the programme after a year to concentrate on a career as a pop singer, gaining two records in the top thirty.
He then returned to acting and has had a successful career in the United States of America in films such as Black Hawk Down, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, Tamara, Resident Evil Extinction, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Atlas Shrugged, Part 1. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and four children.
