Martin Sterling (born 1962 in Manchester) is a storyliner on Coronation Street, working on the position between March 2005 and March 2008, from December 2008 to July 2019 and from January 2020 onwards with 3951 episodes to his credit to date. He also contributed 6 of his own scripts to the programme in 2008 when he wasn't fulfilling storyliner duties. He wrote the video spots for Norris Cole's Twitter Page during the week of Peter Barlow's trial and the website content for Just Rosie in 2011. Aside from Tony Warren and Eric Spear he is the most credited member of the production staff of the programme in its history.

He became a professional writer in 1993 following a career in banking however prior to that he had achieved publishing success with a play in 1990 entitled A Test of Compassion and a book on saucy cinema entitled Keeping the British End Up. In addition to Coronation Street he has since published books on Eric Morecambe and James Bond. Journalistic pieces have appeared in The Times and Woman’s Weekly and, as a resident of Norfolk, he has been a regular voice on local radio for many years and national radio with spots on Gloria Hunniford’s Open House show.
