Marlene Sidaway (born 1937 in Thornaby-on-Tees, Yorkshire) appeared on Coronation Street in three roles:
- Community Centre Committee member Mrs. Briscoe in September 1976
- Bin round customer Mrs Fletcher in May 1982
- The domineering control-freak Brenda Taylor (a.k.a "Mummy" Taylor), a part she played between June 1990 and November 1992.
She was accepted at the East 15 Acting School in London in 1961 and her long list of television credits includes roles in Quest of Eagles, Andy Robson, Shine on Harvey Moon, The Bill, Capstick's Law, Casualty, Pride and Prejudice, Peak Practice, Accused, Midsomer Murders, The Dark Room, The Secret, Bad Girls, Doctors, Holby City and Mum.
Her radio work includes playing Miss Lewis in King St Junior for twelve years while on stage, she has appeared in productions of The Boy Friend, Ring Round the Moon, A Man for All Seasons, Romeo and Juliet, It's a Madhouse, Vaughan Street, Joking Apart, Entertaining Mr Sloane, Foreign Lands, Peace in Our Time, Rabenthal, All My Sons, Kiss Me Like You Mean It, A Prayer for Owen Meany and Kenny Morgan.
