Marion was the instructor at the self defence ju-jitsu class Roy Cropper and Chesney Brown attended in March 2005.
Marion was very passionate about the defence that ju-jitsu offered and praised those who had attended the class, saying that they had made a life saving decision. She told the group that although she couldn't spell ju-jitsu, she had been doing it for 25 years. This excited Chesney but unnerved an anxious Roy.
She told Roy, Chesney and the rest of the people at the class that she would teach them how to restrain, immobilise and control any attacker of any shape or size. Marion attacked Roy during the session and used her ju-jitsu skills in order to act out what a real life mugging situation may be like.
Roy told Marion that he didn't think that he was cut out for ju-jitsu which annoyed her claiming that he hadn't been listening properly or using application. Marion was then tripped up from behind by Chesney and he asked her if that was the application she was looking for.
