Marie Hopps (born "Mary Theodosia Hopps" on 16th April 1906 in Kelvin, Glasgow; died 22nd July 1992 in Toronto, Canada) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly as pensioner Lottie in March 1961 having appeared as an extra in the Rovers' snug on occasion from Episode 7 onwards; and she returned to the programme in June 1962 as Amy, a tea lady at Elliston's Raincoat Factory.
She also appeared in January Sale and The Gaolbirds, two episodes of the second series of the Coronation Street spin-off Pardon the Expression which aired in 1966.
She studied Music and Dance under the tutelage of Max Reinhardt in Berlin.
She also appeared in various series for Granada Television including The Younger Generation, The Victorians, Maupassant, You Can't Win and their 1960 adaptation of Kipps which was directed by Stuart Latham and which was transmitted from October to December 1960 in the Friday 7.00pm timeslot in the spot in the schedules which would be occupied by Coronation Street from 9th December.
Her other credits included roles in Emergency-Ward 10, Nicholas Nickleby and the 1967 film Far from the Madding Crowd.
Immigrating to Canada in 1972, she appeared in many CBC dramas and was director of productions for the Canadian Mime Theatre.
