The Man at the gym was the owner of a car that was involved in the attack on Luke Britton by Dale and Justin Parker in January 2018.
In March 2018, Luke's girlfriend Alya Nazir decided to try and find a suitable gym for a charity boxing tournament that was being held in Luke's memorial. In the gym's car park, Alya was shocked to spot the car that she recognised as being used in the attack on Luke outside of Webster's Autocentre.
When the man approached the car, Sophie Webster asked him whether the car was his, claiming that some kids had been trying the doors to stall him. As he spoke to Sophie, Alya's friends and organisers of the event, David Platt and Josh Tucker, wrestled the man to the ground. Sophie phoned the police, who arrested the man and took him in for questioning.
