The middle-aged Man Customer provided Gail Potter's very first sale when she began work at Sylvia's Separates in April 1976. He asked for a nightie for a “friend” and Gail soon cottoned onto what he was actually after. She suggested a “baby doll” see-through one. Rejecting the orange one offered he asked for the same in black and, pleased with the item, put it within a box of chocolates he had bought. Gail and Elsie Howard burst into laughter after he had departed.
