Maisie Wheatley is the daughter of Nicky Wheatley.
In 2020, Nicky was working as an escort, convinced it was her only way to financially support Maisie, who she was raising as a single mother. During this time she became close to Daniel Osbourne, who paid her simply for company to help him cope with grief following his wife Sinead's recent death. When Nicky was beaten up by one of her clients that September, Daniel stole £5,000 from his neighbour Geoff Metcalfe, and gave it to Nicky so she and Maisie could move to Lytham St Annes, enabling Nicky to work for her aunt in a B&B.
In April 2022, Nicky had been reacquainted with Daniel, having been offered a teaching assistant role in the same school where he worked. In Roy's Rolls, they discussed how the deputy head Orla Crawshaw's husband had left her, while Maisie was focused on her colouring book.
