In April 1980, Ena Sharples moved to St Annes to stay with her friend Henry Foster. Although initially a temporary move while her flat at the Community Centre was refurbished, Ena ultimately moved to St Annes permanently.
In 1993, after selling the Corner Shop, Alf and Audrey Roberts made plans to retire to St Annes and placed an offer on a bungalow. However, after Alf discovered a golf club full of retired grocers, Audrey's doubts about the move grew and they returned to Weatherfield.
