Lynda Baron (born "Lilian Ridgway" on 24th March 1939 in Urmston, died 5th March 2022 in London) appeared on Coronation Street in December 1997 as Renee Turnbull, who signed up as a client to Alec Gilroy's Golden Years Agency.

She also appeared in the 2010 50th anniversary BBC Four drama The Road to Coronation Street in the role of the legendary Violet Carson.

Best remembered for her role as Nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the classic sitcom Open All Hours, a role she played for nine years from 1976 to 1985 and reprised the role for Still Open All Hours from 2013 to 2016. Her other television credits included roles in Doctor Who, Breaking Point, A Roof Over My Head, Oh No, It's Selwyn Froggitt, Crossroads, Minder, Grundy, The Upper Hand, Nancherrow, Doctors, Fat Friends, Holby City, Down to Earth, EastEnders, Chasing Shadows and Father Brown. She entertained a much younger audience in the BBC children's programme Come Outside from 1993 to 1997.

On stage, she appeared in productions of Living for Pleasure, One Over the Eight, Now Now, Darling, Who Goes Bare?, A Bedfull of Foreigners, The Bedwinner, Move Over Mrs Markham, Once More Darling, Stupid Cupid, Key for Two, Stepping Out, Little Me, Whodunnit?, Follies, An Inspector Calls, It Runs in the Family, Maddie, I Am Yours and Rookery Nook.
