Lymm is a village and civil parish in Cheshire, England which incorporates various small hamlets. At the 2011 Census, it had a population of 12,350. Lymm village centre is a designated conservation area, notable for its historic buildings, both listed and unlisted. The Bridgewater Canal passes through the centre of Lymm.
In August 1991, Des Barnes and his wife Steph invited the Platt family to join them on the maiden voyage of Des's boat down the canal and they stopped off at a pub in the village during their trip. A few days later, having discovered Steph's infidelity, Des burnt the boat by the side of the canal and found himself in court, charged with polluting a public waterway with noxious matter. He returned to the canalside in November to show his solicitor, Lynette Campion, the charred remains of the boat.
In April 2018, Eva Price rented a cottage in Lymm in order to stay discreetly until she had given birth to her baby. Eva had concocted an elaborate plan with Toyah Battersby to pass off the baby as her own child born through surrogacy once it arrived. Toyah was desperate for a child but unable to conceive while Eva wasn't ready to be a mother, the pair kept their plan secret from Toyah's partner Peter Barlow and everyone else, pretending Eva was travelling in America. Eva gave birth to Susie while at the cottage, before giving her away to Toyah. She was visited at the cottage a few days later by Aidan Connor, Susie's biological father. Following their conversation, Eva believed they still had a future and left Lymm the next morning to return to the street, where she discovered Aidan had committed suicide.
