Luke Strong was a friend of Carla Connor who was appointed by her to take over Underworld after she had left her husband Tony Gordon upon discovering he had killed her lover Liam Connor. Luke turned up at the factory to announce to Tony that he would be taking over the factory for Carla, much to Tony's shock.
He started dating Rosie Webster, but they split when he fell in love with Michelle Connor instead. Rosie split them up when she arrived at Luke's flat and got him to undress, just as Michelle came in.
Carla called him in October 2009, to advise that she was returning to Weatherfield and wanted her shares back. With no option left, Luke lied to Rosie that he was going to invest in another business, and told her that she could buy his shares (which were actually Carla's) with her £90,000 that she received from John Stape. Wanting the factory, Rosie got the money transferred into his account. Without letting anyone know, he packed a bag, got into his car and drove off, deciding to leave the country. Rosie was devastated that Luke had conned her out of all her money, and that she would never get the factory. She called the bank, but they informed her it was too late to stop the tranfer.
