Louis Emerick (born "Louis Emerick Grant" on 10th June 1960 in Toxteth, Liverpool) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in August 1986 as a vanman; and he returned to the programme intermittently between March and December 2018 as retired teacher, Mike Thornberry.
He is best known for playing the role of Mick Johnson in Brookside from 1989 to 2001 and PC Walsh in Last of the Summer Wine between 1988 and 1989 and again between 2004 and 2010. His other television credits include roles in The Practice, Floodtide, Merseybeat, Casualty, Doctors, Holby City, Waterloo Road, Justice, Silent Witness, Cooper and Walsh, Benidorm, Zapped, Moving On, Broke, Run, Lockdown Lifeline, Queen Cleopatra and G'wed.
Film roles include The Fruit Machine, Layer Cake, Lapse of Honour, Habit, Out of Time, Saving Christmas Spirit, Bolan's Shoes and Our Kid.
Louis and actor Ken Kitson launched an online appeal in October 2014 in order to fund the creation of a Last of the Summer Wine spin-off.
On stage, he appeared in productions of Green, The Liverpool Boat and Aladdin.
