Lisa George (born 15th October 1970) is an actress who has played Beth Sutherland (née Tinker) in Coronation Street between August 2011 and August 2024. She previously appeared as an unnamed nurse colleague of Martin Platt in September 1997; and as a Family Liaison Officer working on the investigation of Tommy Harris's murder for six episodes between March and April 2005.
Her role as Beth was originally intended to be short-term and appeared initially for two episodes in August 2011. However due to popular feedback, she was promoted to a regular cast member alongside on-screen son Colson Smith (who plays Craig Tinker).
Growing up in Grimsby, she wanted to become an actress from the age of twelve and after schooling, she trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has also made appearances in episodes of The Cops, City Central, Casualty, Holby City and Emmerdale. She also appeared in a British TV advertisement for the fast-food chain, KFC, in 2005. The advert would go on to become the most complained-about advert Ofcom had that year, due to George's character and numerous others singing with their mouths full of food; it was thought to be encouraging children to display bad table manners.
