Linda Susan Polan (born April 1939 in Sheffield, died 13th July 2009 in Rochester, Kent) appeared on Coronation Street in August 1990 as Sybil Featherstone, owner of a missing budgie.
Perhaps best remembered as Betty Birkett in the BBC drama United! from 1965 to 1966 and Maureen Nicholls in Albion Market from 1985 to 1986, her other credits included roles in Z Cars, Emergency-Ward 10, United!, The Newcomers, Angels, Rooms, The Olympian Way, Gulliver in Lilliput, Luna, The Fainthearted Feminist, Up Line, The Ruth Rendell Mysteries, A Likely Lad, The Boot Street Band, Little Napoleons and The Wild House.
Film roles included A Private Enterprise, Hussy, And the Ship Sails On and Naughty Boys.
On stage, she appeared in productions of Fred Karno's Army, The Good Sisters, Thark, Trelawny of the Wells, The House of Blue Leaves and Filumena. She was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and for them, appeared in The Taming of the Shrew and Happy End.
While for radio, she had several different roles in The Archers and was also heard in The Clayhanger Family, Home to Roost, Crampton Hodnet, Rent as well as many productions of Afternoon Theatre, Midweek Theatre, Story Time, Saturday-Night Theatre and The Monday Play.
