Kelly was the girlfriend of Jude Appleton.
After leaving Weatherfield in disgrace after more of his lies surfaced, Jude found his way to Blackpool and began a relationship with Kelly. However, Jude was once again up to his old tricks and had Kelly believe that he was an orthopedic surgeon called Dr. Ken Barlow - taking the name from Ken Barlow, an upstanding member of his old community.
When Mary Cole tracked her son down to a B&B with the help of her friend Roy Cropper, Jude was forced to pretend that she was one of his patients - to whom he gave two new hips. Roy was able to put Kelly straight and she confronted Jude before storming off.
