Kefalonia (also spelt "Cephalonia") is an island in the Ionian Sea, west of mainland Greece. It's marked by sandy coves and dry rugged landscapes. Its capital, Argostoli, is built on a hillside overlooking a narrow harbour. It is the sixth-largest island of Greece by area and has a population of some 36,000.
In February 2019 Peter Barlow was offered summer work by a friend named Mickey which involved ferrying tourists from the island starting in the Easter. Although initially reluctant, Peter was eventually enthusiastic but before he could make the move his boat, the Lost Buoy, was accidentally set on fire by a sleepwalking Roy Cropper and destroyed.
