Kay Purcell (born 6th December 1963 in Leyland, Lancashire; died 23rd December 2020 also in Lancashire) appeared on Coronation Street in September 1997 as community midwife Rhona Summers, who visited Zoe Tattersall at 9 Coronation Street after she gave birth to daughter Shannon.
Her other credits included roles in Cracker, Emmerdale, City Central, Casualty, The Cops, Children's Ward, My Parents Are Aliens, Holby City, Bernard's Watch, Messiah: The Harrowing, Doctors, Ideal, Waterloo Road, Tracy Beaker Returns, The Dumping Ground, Hacker Time, So Awkward, Sunny D and When It Rains.
On stage, she appeared in productions of The Threepenny Opera, It's a Girl, The Winter's Tale, Dick Whittington, The Snow Queen, Eating the Elephant, Love Me Slender, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Crucible, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Hormonal Housewives.
She succumbed to cancer, aged 57.
