The Junior Doctor attended to Oliver Battersby when he was rushed into Weatherfield General after suffering the latest in a series of fits. After examining the child, he reported back to the anxious parents and families that although they had given him sedatives, he hadn't responded yet and was being taken to intensive care. There, Dr Ward began a series of tests and treatments that finally led to a diagnosis of an incurable form of mitochondrial disease, a life limiting condition.
